Rock chip repair
A small chip can often be filled so it doesn't spread, and your original windshield stays in place. The sooner you call, the better the odds.
When a chip can usually be repaired
- It's small, about the size of a quarter or less
- It isn't directly in the driver's line of sight
- It isn't at the very edge of the glass
- It hasn't already started running into a long crack
Why not to wait
Texas heat, cold snaps, potholes and highway miles all put stress on damaged glass. A chip that could have been filled can turn into a crack that means a whole new windshield.
- Keep the chip clean and dry until it's fixed
- Avoid blasting the A/C or defroster straight at it
- A repaired chip may still be faintly visible. The goal is to stop it spreading.
Have this ready when you call
- Year, make and model
- Where the chip is on the windshield and roughly how big
- A photo of the damage
